My other notebook (which dates back to 7 Home Premium) fares MUCH better. (This is, in fact, the ONLY part of the notebook that has ANY issue with 10.) In the meantime, I am soldiering on, but waiting for a more improved driver hack that holds up. 1024x768 is okay, but is it NOT 1440x900 - the display's default. The hack will work for a bit, and then 10 will throw a hissy-fit and kill the hack with Code 43 errors and drop back to the Basic Display Driver. There are hacks that work on 7 and even 8 (those same hacks will work, at least partially, with 10) but they break driver signatures, and Windows 10 is even harsher there than 8 is. I have an HP dv9700 that has one (singular) issue - the old NVidia-based GPU has an old Vista driver that I think was actually based on XP. It depends on the Vista driver - some do, but some do not.
